MEET OUR TEAM
Araseli Martinez-Peña is Co-Founder and serves as AIRE’s CEO and Chief Advocacy Officer. In her role she leads the advocacy efforts and capacity building initiatives. Araseli has spent the last two decades championing education equity and creating innovative initiatives and strategic solutions at the primary, secondary and postsecondary levels that build the capacity of institutions to collectively impact student success for diverse students, with an emphasis on Latinx students, their families and communities. She is a Latinx Education Strategist and a K-20 international comparative expert. Araseli’s decades of experience include building the capacity of educators to create inclusive environments, shaping equitable district practices and policy, advocacy for the protection of educational rights, and family and community engagement. She has been recognized as Hispanic Leader in service of others and is a recipient of the Hispanic Services Council Community Hero Award and the Tampa Hispanic Heritage Leadership in Education Award. Much of her dedicated success has been inspired by her own personal journey as a first generation college student and professional and daughter of Mexican immigrant farm worker parents.
Eveleen Suarez Garcia is Co-Founder and serves as AIRE’S COO & Chief Empowerment Officer. In her role she drives to the heart of bridging the gaps between educational institutions and students and families. The scope of her expertise is deeply embedded in supporting Refugee, Immigrant, Migrant and English Language Learner (ELL) populations at the primary, secondary, and higher education levels through counseling, leadership and advocacy. Her professional career spans more than 20 years evaluating K-12 international academic credentials and providing high aspiration counseling. She is a Hispanic/ Latinx family engagement and relationship specialist and has designed engagement programs that ignite the path for students' to achieve their maximum potential, family empowerment and teaches organizations to capitalize on cultural capital. She has been recognized as a Viva Tampa Bay Hispanic Educator of Excellence Award. Recipient. As a daughter of Cuban immigrants, she is humbled by the privilege to effectuate the much needed growth and college degree attainment of Latinx students by helping institutions shape their practice and outreach.
